United Kingdom
My journey with art started as a child, going through to my teens with Pottery classes. It consisted less of wheel work but more so free play and within the small group it felt very much like I was adventuring. In 1996 aged twelve I acquired a traumatic brain injury which still impacts me greatly. The focus in recovery was very much learning to use every muscle in my body and communication - initially without speech. I had to learn to solely use my non dominant hand and arm.

Art was farthest from my mind in my mid twenties when I attended an art group. I needed interaction and to get out of the house. Owing I believe to the precision and concentration involved in merely holding a pencil and then marking paper my art quickly progressed and it became "stylised" by my difficulty presented from the quickly fatigued control of my hand and arm. For example creating obstacles to drawing solid lines.

I am untrained, and uncertain of what I intend when I start the process but I will find beauty, or gain intrigue with all my muses. An expression, a pose, an aura! I find beauty in life and people fascinate me. Everyone has a beauty and I love it if I can capture an emotion or wonderful thought.

I add to my Jiffy collection with Reus which I'm happy to bring you.

The body was fiercely marked but the face needed a more delicate touch which shows in the depths of shade but I'm not necessarily too concerned by this.
As always I'd love it to provoke reaction in yourselves and please do feed that reaction positive and, less positive, back to me.

The aim with my work on Jiffy, cardboard and letter  is to allow me to gain strength from a canvas that is imperfect and would be discarded without a thought.
It allows me to be free and unconcerned by success.
Saturday I picked up three pieces of work which had sat in a gallery for three years. At times they were on display and other times they were in storage.
It felt like a huge blow contacting the gallery to inform them I was going to take back the pieces. I struggled to do it for am age in fact. It feels like a step back. I have hung one piece at home, it's often commented upon that this particular piece is my best work. Having hung it I'm afforded a safety in calling myself an artist, and I feel legitimate. But It's all too comfortable and I slump into a paralysis. With desires and fight dwindling I'm knocked by labeling this incident a natural culmination of what my mind perceives are inadequacies on my part.

I have completed a Jiffy draw and hope to continue with the practice of art if nothing else for now.

Jiffy Deviation - Untitled 29.05.17
This is drawn onto a used Jiffy Bag.
I have friends to thank for renewed motivation and hope with my practice.
The Proportions got a little haywire towards the end (bottom) of the piece. I contemplated tearing off lip or sealing it shut, but it it what it is
This has taken many months to bring to fruition and I finally feel it's there.
It's a portrait of Tim Minchin. Which I'm happy and a bit scared as usual with portraits to bring to you.

It was two weeks before I summoned the courage to make the amendments needed to finish. I was scared by the prospect of completing it. It would open me up to belief I'd failed to gain a needed resemblance, to attain likes, praise or justification of my practice, my time and efforts.

Medium: Charcoal stick
Size: 297 x 420 mm
